In 2008 Carolyn and Peter Hewett asked Tom Carment to consider an unusual commission - to draw the portraits of thirty people with a close relationship
to their optometry practice. Peter Hewett Optometrists is a three generational family practice with a reputation for personal, high quality and modern
eye care combined with a wider social committment.
The Hewetts have a large collection of Tom's paintings and drawings and Tom and Peter have known each other since childhood.
Over five months Tom drew each of the subjects in pencil on paper, from life, in their own home or office.
The portraits are now on permanent display Peter Hewett Optometrists at 799 Military Road Mosman Junction, Sydney.
